Illustration Friday: Intricate

It may seem a bit repetitive, but the illustration from my previous post fits so well to this week's IF topic ... It's a scene from the book by Evald Flisar, in which Alice - together with her uncle - takes her first ride in an intricate, rattling vehicle from Crazyland.

Illustration Friday: Clique

"The bullies lifted their eyes and gaped at it. Then one of them suddenly had a clothespin squeezed on his nose. It closed his nostrils so he had to open his mouth to breathe. “Ow!” he cried. And then the other ten had clothespins on their noses too. “Ow!” they all cried together." (From the book Spots becomes a World Champion by Evald Flisar, illustrated by me)

Illustration Friday: Memories

This illustration is a memory of my 3-month stay in Budapest, as a part of CEEPUS programme (Central European Exchange Programme for University Studies). It was made on a sunny sunday afternoon at the end of my first week there.

Illustration Friday: Detach

The above watercolour was made early this summer, during a stay in a Bosnian raft camp, rather detached from civilization. Taking along drawing kit to such a place is advisable thing to do, otherwise you can end up playing parlour games all day long ... (not that there's anything wrong with that, but doodling is more fulfilling anyway:-)

Illustration Friday: Multiple

I'm painting these turtles since 1997 - for no particular reason. No. 1 is in Australia - it migrated there with Nadja and her family. 4 and 6 are hanging on the wall of Renata's living room in Slovenia. No. 7 is in my aunt's kitchen in Croatia - it was made for my cousin's 10th birthday. 2, 3, 5 and 8 are standing upon our bookshelf at home. There are at least 20 other turtles here and there - 12 of them went to a traveling exhibition ten years ago and never returned back ...

Illustration Friday: Blanket

"However, once in bed, he felt overcome by a deep sadness. He was the world soccer champion, but what could he do with that? Without the hippityhopsters, everything seemed pointless. In the falling evening light, when Spots was already certain he’d seen the last of them, the faces of the hippityhopsters suddenly glowed above the bedside table. They winked at him happily. “Cool!” he exclaimed. “Are you going to stay with me?” They jumped up and formed the following words in the air: WE WOULDN’T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY!" (From the book Spots becomes a World Champion by Evald Flisar, illustrated by me)
